Dolly Parton + Queen Latifah + rapping together = actually happened
We may already have crunk, OutKast and Three 6 Mafia, but Southern rap ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Appearing on the “Today” show this morning, Dolly Parton - accompanied by a beatboxing Queen Latifah - made her hip-hop debut, offering up confrontational hyper-lyricism along the lines of, “She’s the Queen of her own hood / But I’m the Queen of Dollywood.”
Yo Dolly, asserting superiority over your own DJ might not be the best idea for a rookie MC. Me thinks the Queen will let it slide this time, if only because she can’t carry the “Joyful Noise” publicity tour by her lonesome. Just a tip from one G to another.
